ITS 6 – Day 1

International Training Seminar – Mexico – Day 1

Well it was an early start with a 7am flight from Brisbane. In total there were 9 Qld’s students on the trip. Neil, Chad, Katie, Alex, Matt, Steve Marks, Steve McLaurin, Zeb and myself. We all checked in together at 6am and got the shot. Katie was already in the USA and was meeting us in Mexico.

Flight to Sydney was fine and then meet the rest of the Australian Team at Sydney airport after we had to check in again due to our passports not being registered in Brisbane. In total the flight was made up of 54 Hapkido Team Members. As usual the flight to LA was uneventful.

By the time we landed in LA we had already been flying for 16.5 hours. Still 2 more flights to go to get to Mexico. It was only a short layover in LA and was again in the air, this time to Atlanta. Once we landed in Atlanta for another short layover we had now done 21 hours in the air. At this stage a shower and decent lay down would be great.

Last flight from Atlanta to Guadalajara and another 3.5 hours in the air. In total we had been traveling just on 30 hours and that shower is looking heaps better. We got through Mexican customs easily and was greeted by 50 Hapkido Mexican students at the airport. We got a great airport photo and then the senior belts got a lift with some Mexican students and the rest took a bus.

Finally on Friday at 10:30pm at night we arrive at the hotel and my first agenda was room service and a shower. The hotel was really nice and rooms very ample for the next 9 days. Have to admit not much sleep happening due to the time zone.
